At approximately 2.37am, neighbours on Rhodes Hill and Lees New Road woke to the sound of sirens and a "loud bang" as a silver car appeared to veer across the junction and crash up a grassy verge next to a ginnel.
The car only narrowly missed a lampost in the crash.
Thick clouds of smoke could also be seen coming from the car while its lights were flashing after the impact.
CCTV footage then shows the driver and three passengers managed to escape the wreckage.
They could be seen running away on foot in various directions.
The Greater Manchester Police car did not crash but was positioned in the middle of the junction.
Chris Bail, a resident on the street, said the crash narrowly missed his home and said he's "sick" of drivers treating the roads "like a racetrack".
He added: "I'd just got my head down and then me and my missus just heard this massive bang and we thought 'they're going to come into our drive'.
"It's only a matter of time before someone hits my house."
Greater Manchester Police were contacted for comment but a spokesperson said as police chases are recorded from the point of initial pursuit, they were unable to identify the incident.
