A popular Oldham pub, which is a serial nominee for prestigious awards in Greater Manchester, has been nominated for yet another award.

The Fox and Pine pub on Greaves Street in Oldham town centre has been listed as a nominee for the Pub or Beer Bar of the Year as part of the Manchester Food and Drink Festival (MFDF) Awards 2023.

This comes on the tail of the pub recently being named Greater Manchester Pub of the Year by Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and being nominated for Manchester's most loved pub at the I Love Manchester awards.

The Fox and Pine has been shortlisted along with seven other pubs and bars for the MFDF Pub or Beer Bar of the Year, and members of the public can vote here.

Voting will close on November 20 and the awards will be presented during a ceremony at New Century in Manchester on Monday, January 29 next year.

The shortlists have been compiled by the MFDF judging panel, made up of the region's leading food and drink critics, writers and experts.

The other pubs the Fox and Pine has been shortlisted alongside are:

  • The Marble Arch, Rochdale Road, Manchester
  • Track Brewery Taproom, Piccadilly Trading Estate, Manchester
  • The City Arms, Kennedy Street, Manchester
  • Runaway Brewery Taproom, Astley Street, Stockport
  • Reddish Ale, Broadstone Road, Reddish
  • Station Hop, Stockport Road, Levenshulme
  • Heaton Hops, School Lane, Stockport

The Fox and Pine is run by Chris and Michelle Riley and, despite only opening fully a few years ago when Covid restrictions were relaxed, it has gone on to earn its stripes as one of the best in the borough.

In August, the pub was crowned as CAMRA's Greater Manchester Pub of the year, meaning the pub will go head-to-head in a national competition later this year, where it will face off against 16 other pubs from across the UK.

Just last month, CAMRA named the Fox and Pine as one of the 10 best places to get a pint in Oldham, which came just weeks after it was nominated for Greater Manchester's most loved pub at the I Love Manchester awards.

Following that nomination, the pub said in a statement on social media that it was "bursting with pride".
