October half term is starting and we’ve found six things happening in and around Oldham to keep children entertained during the school break.
Halloween Paddle Spooktacular
Hollingworth Lake Adventure & Water Activity Centre is putting on a spooktacular array of Halloween and sports fun this half term.
It takes place from Tuesday, October 24 to Thursday, October 26.
There’s the option to book a morning of paddleboarding, canoe raft building, shelter building, and pumpkin carving. Or, take a paddle following a scary trail in search of pumpkins and treats.
Tickets start at £6 for the paddle hunt or £30 for a morning of activities.
Kid's climbing taster session
Summit Up is hosting a series of kid’s taster climbing sessions.
The National Indoor Climbing Awards Scheme sessions are designed to introduce children aged seven and over to the fundamentals of climbing.
The sessions cost £15 per person and will take place on Monday, October 23 (6pm), Friday 27 (6pm), and Sunday 29 (9.30am).
Halloween fun at Gallery Oldham
Oldham’s art gallery is putting on crafty fun this half term.

Funfair at Royton Park
A children’s fun park – featuring rides, Halloween games and food – is coming to Royton Park this half term.
Running each afternoon from Wednesday, October 25 to Sunday, October 29 the event has all-included wristbands for rides.
A three-and-a-half-hour session is £10.15 per person, with a five-hour day only costing £1.10 more.

The Welcome Roadshow at Oldham Library
This half term, Oldham Library is welcoming an awe-inspiring workshop of dance, circus skills, and crafts.
Children will get the chance to learn some amazing skills and experience the magic of the circus.
The free workshop will take place on Thursday, October 26.

Lancaster Park and Animal Farm
Featuring more than 50 species of animals, Lancaster Animal Farm is a perfect day out this half term.
With plenty of hands-on experiences and play areas to let off steam, this is a great day out.
Plus there’s lots of Halloween activities taking place – pumpkin carving, a haunted house, and even a fancy dress competition!
Prices start at £14 for children and £11 for adults.
