Police are appealing for assistance from the public to trace the next of kin of a man who died this month.

Alan Newbury died at his home in Bardsley, on the border of Oldham and Tameside, on October 10.

Appealing for information about Mr Newbury in a post on social media this week, GMP Tameside said there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of the 64-year-old.

In UK law, there is no definition of next of kin, but it is understood to be the closest relative, whether a partner, parent, child or sibling.

Anyone with information about the next of kin of Mr Newbury is asked to contact the Police Coroner's Office in Stockport on 0161 856 7978.
