A hotel and restaurant in Saddleworth was visited by a Manchester City player after the club's victory over local rivals Manchester United on Sunday (October 29).

The Old Bell Inn, based on Huddersfield Road in Delph, shared on its Facebook page that Man City defender Rico Lewis enjoyed a Sunday dinner at the restaurant following his club's 3-0 win in the Manchester Derby.

The 18-year-old, who can play in either defence or midfield, hails from nearby Bury and joined Man City's academy at the age of eight.

In the post on social media, The Old Bell Inn wrote: "Look who came to visit us this evening!

"Manchester City defender Rico Lewis, he decided to celebrate the 3-0 derby win by enjoying one of our Sunday dinners."

Phil Whiteman, landlord of the Old Bell Inn, said Lewis was a "very pleasant young man" who "seemed a lovely guy".

He said the teenager was happy to take pictures and speak to other customers at the restaurant.

Mr Whiteman added that Lewis was at the restaurant with his family to celebrate the 70th birthday of his grandfather, Alec, who is from Waterhead.

Lewis was an unused sub in Sunday's match, but has made eight appearances in total this season for the Citizens.

His visit to The Old Bell Inn is not the first time Man City players have been spotted dining in Oldham or enjoying Oldham food.

Last year, just days before winning the Premier League title on the final day of the season, the entire squad visited Sul Lago in Daisy Nook to celebrate former midfielder Fernandinho, who departed the club following their late victory over Aston Villa.

Alongside that, Oldham ice cream man Ejaz Azam served striker Erling Haaland at a party following the club's treble win back in June, before the Norwegian got in the truck and started serving ice cream himself.

As the club continues to enjoy great success on the pitch, let's see which Oldham restaurant a player visits next.
