Video footage has captured the bizarre moment a woman appears to spray the side of a house at random with graffiti in Royton.

CCTV shows a man and woman walking a dog through an alleyway between Clarence Street and Hebron Street at around 7.33pm on Tuesday (October 24).

In the 30-second clip, the man and the dog can be seen walking ahead while the woman uses a torch from her phone and walks behind them.

She then stops, looks at the wall and produces what appears to be a graffiti spray paint bottle before proceeding to write something on the wall.

It is then alleged the pair head up towards Hebron Street and Brownlow Avenue.

Sharing the moment on social media, the resident of the house affected said she wasn't sure why her house was sprayed.

The woman, who did not want to be named, wrote: "I hardly think it's fair that I've got to have this scrubbed now.

"There's just no need for it."

She also said the alleyway is already "grim" and said with the latest bout of graffiti that "it gets grimmer".

Other neighbours agreed and dubbed the random act of vandalism as "unnecessary", "odd" and "annoying".

Another comment read: "People these days have no respect."

Meanwhile, others said the same 'mark' has appeared on various other places across Royton, including on a bin on Heyside Avenue, another litter bin near a tunnel in Royton Linear Park and on some Virgin media cabinets.

Another confirmed the graffiti is on a bin and a box near the top of the avenue and suspected the 'artist' "wants to spread their word".
