A non-profit organisation in Oldham is ramping up its preparation as it begins to produce a short film this month.

Earlier this year, Hack Oldham acquired the rights to produce a short film based on acclaimed horror author Stephen King's short story Stationary Bike, and all it cost them was one dollar.

Eric Steele, director of Hack, explained that the best-selling author runs a programme called Dollar Baby, where he gives students and aspiring filmmakers the chance to adapt one of his short stories for just a dollar.

Hack was successful in its bid for Stationary Bike and is now set to shoot the short film this month.

They say it is a 'once in a lifetime opportunity' to get involved in a Stephen King film.

Those acting and making the film are people who have taken acting and filmmaking classes at Hack, however the organisation is looking for more people to help on the filmmaking side.

Eric said: "We're trying to get as many people involved as possible.

"It's all hands on deck as we're up against a deadline and need to finish filming this month because we have to start editing next month."

Eric added that those involved in producing Stationary Bike were "excited" and that Hack has produced two short films earlier this year.

Hack was recently visited by Katie McCormick who helped show how to use some prosthetics and special effects, and she will be part of the team making the film.

Stationary Bike was published in 2008 and tells the story of a man who begins to ride a stationary bike to improve his health and plots a route to cycle to a town on the US/Canadian border.

However, it takes a turn when he starts to have strange thoughts that someone is following him on his daily rides.

For those looking to get involved in the production, no experience is necessary and people only have to be 18 or older to take part.

The film is not-for-profit, however refreshments will be made available for those involved.
