A yellow warning of heavy rain and floods has been put in place in Oldham as a storm sweeps across the country.

The Met Office placed yellow weather warnings in several areas this weekend as storms Elin and Fergus inflict heavy rainfall and strong winds across the country.

Oldham has already been affected by a heavy downpour though forecasters predict the borough, and Greater Manchester as a whole, will experience further heavy rain from 5pm today through to 3am tomorrow (Monday).

The Met Office warns the persistent heavy rain poses a flooding risk and disruption to transport.

The forecasters say flooding to a few homes and businesses is possible and bus and train services will "probably" be affected with journey times taking longer.

As for drivers, spray and flooding on roads could also present some disruption.

A yellow rain warning has also been put in place for the north west on Monday though it is predicted Oldham will stay dry for most of the day from 5am onwards.
