A Saddleworth cafe has been put up for sale after opening six-and-a-half years ago following what has been described as a difficult decision.

Station Brew, on Shaw Hall Bank Road, close to Greenfield train station, has been put on the market by the cafe's owner, Jackie Hetherington.

The cafe opened in July 2017, however the decision has now been made by Jackie to sell Station Brew as she says she is looking to retire in the next few months.

In a post to the cafe's social media platforms, Jackie wrote: "It’s been an amazing journey since we opened in the summer of 2017 and despite personal tragedy, the pandemic and the economic ups and downs my little cafe is still here doing what it does best.

"You can imagine this hasn’t been an easy decision. I love my cafe, my crew and my customers and I’ll be looking for someone who loves it too and can build on what we have already created with the same ethos and care."

The post added that until the business was sold, it would operate as usual.

When the building which was formerly a newsagents was renovated to allow for the cafe to open, it also saw the development of an apartment above Station Brew, which is available to book on Airbnb and is owned by Jackie.

Jackie said that although she is selling the cafe, she will still own the apartment.

The cafe is available for sale on websites such as Dalton, Rightbiz and Business For Sale, with the leasehold costing £59,950.

The premises is described as a "fully equipped and fitted business" which can sit 24 customers at a time.
