A man has died after a car was found in a ditch following a crash near the M62 in Rishworth.

West Yorkshire Police were called at around 6.15am following a report that a black Seat Leon was found near the A672 at junction 22.

A man was found nearby and pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

A spokesperson for the force said: "A man was found nearby who was pronounced deceased by paramedics at the scene.

"The man's family have been informed and will be offered support by specially trained officers."

Officers would like to speak to those who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it.

Drivers who were in the area with dash cams have been asked to check them for footage.

Those with any information that could assist the investigation is asked to call 101, quoting log 385 of December 17.

The road remains closed and drivers have been told to seek alternative routes.

A traffic update by National Highways read: "M62 J22 eastbound exit (Denshaw) - carriageway lane management. All lanes are closed.

"Normal traffic conditions are expected between 12.30pm and 12.45pm on December 17.

"M62 J22 eastbound access (Denshaw) - carriageway lane management.

"All lanes are closed. Normal traffic conditions are expected between 12.45pm and 1pm on December 17."

Update: The road has now reopened.
