Oldhamers hoping for a white Christmas could be left disappointed this year, as forecasters make their predictions for over the festive season.

There will be cloudy skies, drizzle and sunny spells on the big day – but no sign of the white stuff, according to the Met Office’s latest forecast.

Previously, they’d said in a long forecast that “northerly winds” could bring “some snowfall and ice” to the north of the country, but that suggestion now appears to have been dispelled.

In a more accurate forecast as the holiday nears, it looks like people in the borough can expect fairly average conditions for this time of year.

Christmas Eve is set to be a cloudy and blustery day, with the weekend mostly being mild with showers and drizzle.

It will then turn cooler but brighter on Christmas Day with sunny spells and isolated showers, while Boxing Day is set to be dominated by clouds.
