An Oldham pub has left people feeling disappointed after cancelling Christmas bookings just days in advance.

One Oldham resident, who asked not to be named, said that the Clayton Green Brewers Fayre had ‘let everyone down’ after cancelling Christmas Day and Boxing Day meals.

The resident added that she had only been contacted about the cancellation on Thursday, December 21 – just days before her Christmas Day booking.

The restaurant has been closed due to ‘unforeseen maintenance issues’ and has offered refunds to those affected by the cancellations.

A spokesperson for Brewers Fayre confirmed the closure and apologised for the disappointment.

The spokesperson said: “Unfortunately the restaurant is shut due to essential maintenance.

“We had hoped that it would be up and running in time for Christmas and initially signs indicated that this would be achievable but unfortunately despite best efforts, this simply has not been possible.

“The team has been working hard to contact people with bookings at the earliest possible opportunity, recognising some people are not immediately reachable.

“We’ve offered a full refund or alternative booking at a different one of our restaurants wherever possible and we look forward to welcoming these guests.

“We are of course sorry for anyone disappointed - our team have done their level best.”
