A woman was taken to hospital tonight, January 9, following a two car crash in Oldham. 

The crash took place on Sheepfoot Lane, near to its junction with Westhulme Avenue, near Oldham Athletic's ground, Boundary Park. 

One woman has been taken to hospital, although it is unclear what condition she is in. 

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: “Just before 7pm this evening, January 9, two fire engines from Oldham and Chadderton fire stations, along with the Technical Response Unit, were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Sheepfoot Lane, Oldham.

“Crews arrived quickly at the scene. Firefighters used cutting equipment, a saw and lighting to rescue a 27-year-old woman from one of the vehicles, before she was taken to hospital by colleagues from North West Ambulance Service. 

“Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour.” 

One of the cars involved in the crash was a taxi - its driver could be seen on scene. 

He said: “I had a disabled woman in the back of the car. The fire service decided to cut her out. 

“She was put in an ambulance and taken to hospital.”

The driver hadn’t sustained any injuries. 

He will now have to buy a new car for his job. 

He added: “I love my car, it was comfortable. I had it for a year and a half.”
