Aliens may have visited Oldham at the weekend, as footage captured an unidentified flying object beam passing a household.

The potential extra-terrestrial fly-by was spotted on Wayne Holroyd's Ring doorbell in Lees, on Saturday (January 6) at 8.41pm.

The 62-year-old explained that he just happened to be looking at the camera because he heard a noise outside, when a beam of light whizzed past his home.

"I'm very interested in all the UFO stuff, I do think there's something out there to be honest with you," Wayne said.

"I don't know what it was, I passed it onto a UFO and alien website though - and people think it could be an orb.

"Orbs are more to do with the paranormal like angels and things like that, rather than aliens."

According to online dictionary Merriam-Webster, an orb is a concentric sphere in old astronomy which surrounds the earth and carries celestial bodies.

The professional handyman told The Oldham Times that he had "never seen anything like this before", despite having owned the camera, which he frequently checks, for two years.

He continued: "I was absolutely amazed to be honest with you, I couldn't believe it, I've never seen anything like that before, it was just strange.

"I've shown my friends and family and they've had a good laugh to be honest with you, because they know I'm into that kind of stuff.

"One or two of my friends and family were amazed and couldn't explain it, and one or two said it was a firework or a shooting star but I'm ruling that out because there was no noise."

In the video, the 'orb' can be seen swooping passed Wayne's home from the right of the screen 15 seconds in.

When the video was posted on a UFO and alien Facebook page users rubbished claims that it was an orb and suggested it could be a fly.

One user said: "Bug definitely a bug."

Others, however, supported Wayne's claims, with one user adding: "That's more of a spiritual orb of energy, it's not a UFO, but very interesting."
