Emergency roadworks are set to continue on an Oldham road this week, with Bee Network sharing the updated timetable for an affected bus service.

The works on Delph Road in Saddleworth began last week as part of water company United Utilities’ ‘ongoing maintenance programme’.

Today (Monday, January 15), the works are set to continue and are expected to wrap up on Friday (January 19).

While the works are going on, Bee Network has said the 356 service will be split and operate two separate routes this week in order to try and minimise disruption and ensure Denshaw is served by public transport.

The 356 service will operate on the following routes:

Ashton Interchange to Delph, Crossroads

6.55am, 8.18am, 9.24am, 10.24am, 11.24am, 12.24pm, 1.24pm, 2.24pm, 3.28pm, 4.35pm, 5.37pm, 6.37pm, 7.47pm and 9.47pm.

A service will operate from Mossley at 6.22am and Greenfield Railway Station at 11.15pm.

The announcement of the emergency roadworks left residents confused last week, with some saying they had not received any guidance on the closure, though others said they had received letters with information.

Additionally, residents were warned that water may appear discoloured during the work – however United Utilities says this ‘is nothing to worry about and will quickly return to normal’.

A United Utilities spokesperson said: “This is part of our ongoing maintenance programme.  Across the North West we’re carrying out an extensive programme of work to refresh, clean or replace water pipes which will help us continue to provide high-quality water for customers.

“Customers were given the following advice in the letter in terms of access to their properties: You will still be able to get to your home or driveway, but if you do need to park on the road we may need you to temporarily move your car for a short while, just while our team are working.”

Residents with concerns have been advised to contact the water company by social media or on 0345 672 3723, quoting project number 80065029.
