Two teenagers have been charged over a kidnapping that took place in Tameside.

On Wednesday, January 24), Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were called to reports of a possible abduction at 2am, where a man was assaulted and bundled into what is believed to have been a 4x4 silver BMW, on Chester Avenue in Dukinfield.

A gang of men have already been charged in relation to the abduction of the man who has since been found, but an additional two females have now been charged with conspiracy to kidnap.

One of those is 18-year-old Megan Birtwistle, of Essington Walk in Denton, while the other is a 17-year-old girl who cannot be named for legal reasons due to her age.

The pair have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court today, Monday, February 12.

It takes the total number of people charged in relation to this incident to eight after the six men were charged last month.

The Oldham Times previously reported that four men between the ages of 23 and 35 were charged and remanded with kidnap, while another two men were charged in relation to the kidnapping.

Paul Doherty, 35, of Daventry Avenue in Bispham, Blackpool, Marshall Redfern, 23, of Fox Street, Heywood, Joshua Oakes, 28, of Halifax Road, Rochdale, and Daniel Hague, 32, of Red Bank Road, Bispham, Blackpool, are all due to appear at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on March 1.

Edward Dowdall, 32, of Stronsay Place in Bispham in Blackpool was also charged and released on court bail to appear at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on March 1, and Jack Laferty, 19, of no fixed abode, was charged and remanded with conspiracy to kidnap and concerned in the supply of cocaine. Laferty was due to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court on January 29.
