An air ambulance was called to a building site accident in Oldham today, Monday.

At 12.50pm, North West Ambulance Service responded to reports of an accident at a construction site on Manchester Street by deploying five units.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were also called to the scene and told The Oldham Times that they believe injuries sustained by the worker are not life-threatening.

An air ambulance, an ambulance, an advanced paramedic, an operational commanded, and a specialist Hazardous Area Response Team attended to the patient at the scene before taking them to hospital.

A spokesperson for the service said: "We responded to a 999 call following an incident on a building site on Manchester Street, Oldham at 12.50pm.

"An ambulance, advanced paramedic, the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), critical care helimed team and an operational commander attended the scene to treat the patient and bring them to the ambulance where they were taken to hospital to receive further care for their injuries."

While a spokesperson for the force added: "At around 1pm on Monday 12 February 2024, Greater Manchester Police were called to a report of a workplace accident of an individual on Manchester Street, Oldham.

"Thankfully, injuries sustained are believed not to be life threatening and an investigation has been launched in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive."
