'Rod Stewart' is coming to Oldham this weekend, but he may sound more Northern than usual.
A Rod Stewart tribute act, who usually tours along the south of Spain, will be performing at The Highfield Inn, on Ripponden Road, this Saturday (February 17) from 9pm.
Steve Fisher, who will be performing renditions of Sir Rod's greatest hits when he comes to Moorside, is back in Greater Manchester from his home in Almeria - where he has lived for the past 20 years.
The 69-year-old, originally from Moston, has been impersonating the musical icon for the last 17 years after trading his job in communications for one on stage.
He said: "I've been a huge fan of his since I was 14 - Rod's 10 years older than me."
When asked whether Sir Rod has heard of him, Steve laughed: "No I don't think so, but he might have. I came really close to meeting him once but I don't think he knows who I am!"
Residents who are hoping to catch Steve on stage but cannot make his Saturday gig, will get one final chance to see him in Oldham when he visits The Railway, in Hollinwood, at 4pm Sunday, February 25.
