It's due to be another wet and rainy weekend in Oldham as forecasters predict heavy spells and possible flooding across the borough.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain, starting tomorrow, Saturday, from 3pm through to 6pm on Sunday.

The warning spans most of the UK, from London to the north west as well as Wales.

The forecasters say spells of some heavy rain is due to push east through Saturday and Sunday and warn "some disruption" is likely.

This includes possible flooding to homes and businesses and delays to bus and train services.

Drivers should be careful as spray and flooding on roads could impact journey times.

Some interruption to power supplies and other services are also likely.

Occasional heavy rain and "persistent" downfalls are due to move from west to east during Saturday and Sunday, falling on already saturated ground.

The rain is expected to clear up in the western areas of the country from Sunday while the rate of clearance from the east and southeast is open to uncertainty.

However, the forecasters predict Oldham should become dry by Sunday evening.

To mitigate against any flooding, the Met Office urges residents to check their local area and consider preparing a "flood plan" with an "emergency flood kid".

Those looking to travel should check road conditions and bus and train timetables.

In the event of a power cut, prepare by gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power bank and other essential items.

The Met Office added: "Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area."
