All of these cases involving people from Oldham or crimes committed in Oldham have been before the magistrates or crown courts in recent weeks.

An Oldham man has been jailed after he broke into an apartment building and stole two sofas.

Jason Stewart, of Greaves Street, committed a burglary and two thefts in Greater Manchester and Wales during a five-month span last year.

The 39-year-old's offending began on August 16 last year, when he entered the X1 The Landmark apartment building on Oldfield Road, Salford, and stole two sofas worth £1,000.

On October 26, Stewart was on Conwy Road in North Wales when he stole £10 worth of goods from a service station shop.

Finally, on December 27, Stewart stole £230 worth of goods from the B&Q store in Oldham.

At Manchester Magistrates' Court on February 16, Stewart was sentenced having pleaded guilty to one count of burglary and two counts of theft and was sentenced to a total of 10 months in prison for his offending.

A man assaulted a police officer while he was drunk at Royal Oldham Hospital on Christmas Eve.

Steven Dunn, of Parkgate Road, Macclesfield, was acting in a drunk and disorderly manner at the hospital on December 24 last year.

The 32-year-old then assaulted a male police officer who was acting in the exercise of his functions as an emergency worker.

On February 16, Dunn appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court, where he pleaded guilty to drunk and disorderly in a public place and assault of an emergency worker.

He was ordered to pay a fine of £250, a victim surcharge of £100 and further costs of £85, bringing his total costs to £435.

An Oldham man has been sentenced for carrying a knife outside a petrol station.

David Titus, of Pine Tree Road, Limeside, was found to have a wooden handled lock knife outside a Morrisons petrol station forecourt in Oldham on December 20, 2022.

On February 16 at Stockport Magistrates' Court, the 23-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence of possessing a knife in public and was sentenced.

Titus was given a prison sentence of four months, suspended for 12 months, which was suspended due to the fact he had not committed another offence in the 14 months since the offence.

He was ordered to attend 20 days of Thinking Skills Programme and 26 days of rehabilitation activity requirement, while the knife was forfeited and destroyed.

Titus was also made to pay a £154 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.
