A drug dealer who was found with almost £20,000 in cash when stopped by a police patrol in Oldham, has been jailed.

A Greater Manchester Police (GMP) patrol pulled 25-year-old Mitchell Bradley in Greenfield in September to search his Volkswagen Golf.

Officers arrested him on the scene after they found £19,400 in cash in a shopping bag and his jacket, a Nokia 'burner' phone and an old iPhone.

Investigators found a debtors’ list in the Nokia that suggested Bradley was linked to drug deals worth more than £130,000.

A further $1,600 was found during a search of his home address in Hyde, Tameside.

Bradley, of Peak Place, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and possession of criminal property, and was sentenced to 45 months in jail when he appeared at Minshull Street Crown Court on Wednesday (February 21).

Detective Sergeant Ian Parker, of GMP’s Tameside Challenger Team, said: “Investigations proved the phones belonged to Bradley and showed that, located within the Notes facility, there were numbers and figures which were identified as a debtors’ lists.

“The numbers recorded were staggering, in one section adding up to £37,480 and within another section £95,700.

“When interviewed, Bradley made no comment about the cash seized and the content of his phones."

He added: “We believe Bradley was linked to organised crime for a number of years and hope his incarceration sends a message to others who think that dealing drugs is acceptable – our investigations into criminality of this type will be relentless.”

A proceeds of crime investigation will now follow, which may see even more items seized by the force.
