Weather forecasters have predicted snow to fall on Oldham tomorrow.

Meteorologists at the Met Office anticipate a light downpour of snow to hit the borough for an hour from 9am; but foresee more to hit the borough next month.

Residents will be disenchanted by tomorrows flurry of snow as nine hours of rain is expected to followed.

The Met Office said in Tuesday's prediction for the whole of the North West: "Skies will turn cloudy in the morning and winds will strengthen.

"Outbreaks of rain will spread across the region during the afternoon, before clearing in the evening. Maximum temperature 8 °C."

Temperatures will drop to a weekly low in the borough tomorrow, from 4am until 7am, as the skies prepare for light snowfall.

However, in its long weather forecast, the first 10 days in March, the Met Office predict more snow to hit the borough - particularly higher ground, like Saddleworth.

It read: "It will become cooler and more unsettled from Friday and through the weekend with temperatures a little below average.

"Areas of showers sometimes banding together for longer spells of rain, this heavy at times and likely to turn wintry, even at lower levels and some snow accumulations are likely over higher ground, particularly in the west.

"Clearer spells overnight with some frost or fog patches developing."

It continued: "Into the following week, the pattern likely returning to occasional frontal systems affecting more northern and western areas with some more settled spells developing in eastern areas as settled conditions spread out from northern Europe.

"Remaining around average temperatures for the time of year though some short-lived colder interludes remain likely."

Meanwhile, residents should expect sunny intervals today that will change to cloudy by lunchtime, but will remain dry all day.
