A professional actress snapped a picture of Great Britain over Oldham.

While walking her dog on Tuesday (February 27), Julia Bowers looked up at the sky and saw what she described as "a map of England" which had formed in the clouds.

The Chadderton woman told The Oldham Times that she was "fumbling" for her camera as she bid to get it and take a picture of the sky before the clouds changed formation.

"I was walking my dog and don't live far from the town hall, and I said the sky looked lovely tonight," the 61-year-old said.

"As I walked around I saw the cloud and the soldier there, it looked like he was looking over England.

"Having the dog in one hand and then trying to get a picture in the other was difficult - I would've taken a better one otherwise."

The hairdresser-turned-actress admitted that she frequently has her head in the clouds as she takes inspiration for her career.

Julia continued: "I think because I've got a creative mind, I'm always seeing things.

"If you say for instance that you're looking for a set, I could see something and think - that would look good for a Western or a good story.

"A the time I was thinking the picture of the soldier overlooking England could make a good beginning of a drama."

Two years ago, Julia traded scissors to pursue her passion on stage - a move which saw her perform at Media City in Two, a play by the well-known English dramatist Jim Cartwright.

It is not the first time the mother-of-two, and grandmother to three, has spotted unusual clouds before - having seen one recently shaped like an angel.

She added: "I've seen all sorts of things in the clouds before - there was one that looked like an angel, I had to get my mum to come outside to take a look and she agreed with me."
