All of these cases involving people from Oldham or crimes committed in Oldham have been before the magistrates or crown courts in recent weeks.

A man has been given a suspended prison sentence for entering incognito mode on the internet.

Kashif Saddique, of Eton Avenue, Oldham, was issued a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) in May 2016.

On January 14 this year, the 33-year-old used incognito mode when browsing the internet, therefore concealing his internet history, which was prohibited as part of the SHPO he was issued.

Saddique also failed to register an alias name he had used.

At Manchester Magistrates' Court on February 27, he pleaded guilty to breaching an SHPO and failing to comply with the notifications of the sex offenders register.

Saddique was given a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for 24 months, and was ordered to attend 25 days of rehabilitation activity requirement.

He was also made to pay a victim surcharge of £187 and further costs of £85.

A man who stole a mitre saw tool from B&Q in Oldham has been jailed.

Anthony Spencer, of no fixed abode, stole the DeWalt mitre saw, which was worth £230, from the shop on July 13 last year.

At Manchester Magistrates' Court on February 21, the 38-year-old pleaded guilty to the theft and was sentenced.

He was jailed for two weeks and was ordered to pay £230 in compensation for the stolen saw.

A man has been disqualified from driving after he got behind the wheel whilst under the influence of cannabis.

Tamas Rethy, of High Leigh Road, Openshaw, was driving a Ford Fiesta in Oldham on August 29 last year when he was found to have Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the main psychoactive constituent of cannabis, in his system.

At Tameside Magistrates' Court on February 21, the 45-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced.

He was banned from driving for 12 months and was made to pay a fine of £120, a victim surcharge of £48 and further costs of £85, bringing his total costs to £253.
