A property is set to be developed into eight apartments after plans were approved.

The three-storey property on Queens Road faces Alexandra Park and lies in a largely residential area.

As part of the approved plans, each flat will have one bedroom, along with a bathroom, kitchen and lounge area.

Each floor will have two apartments each, including the basement level.

According to planning officer for Oldham Council Abiola Labisi, there will not be any significant alterations to the building's exterior, with the only changes to the external appearance of the property being changes to existing windows.

The property lies within a conservation area, however Mr Labisi said the changes made to the building would cause "substantial harm" to the conservation area and any potential harm would be outweighed by the "public benefit" that would be provided.

Mr Labisi said that as the area is largely residential, the character of the area would not be harmed or any overbearing or overshadowing on other properties.

The plans were recommended for approval and were formally approved on February 29.
