An Oldham man who was the director of a company has been disqualified for failing to keep adequate accounting records during the business' existence.

Sean Suffield, of Thornley Lane, Grotton, was the director of Quick Pay Eco Ltd throughout its existence between March 2017 and November 2019.

According to The Insolvency Service, Mr Suffield failed to make sure the company "maintained and/or preserved adequate accounting records" from its inception until it was dissolved.

This meant the 47-year-old was unable to deliver accurate accounting records to the liquidator when required to do so.

Due to the lack of sales records or bank statements Mr Suffield supplied, the liquidator was not able to determine the total sales made by Quick Pay Eco during its existence or if there were any book debts outstanding at liquidation.

The liquidator was also unable to confirm what purchases were made from any sales proceeds, or if they were for the benefit of the company.

Quick Pay Eco, which was based in the Express Building on George Leigh Street in Manchester, failed to make nine quarterly VAT returns, which led to just more than £74,000 of VAT was assessed to have been owed by HMRC.

The liquidator was also unable to verify if Quick Pay Eco had any assets at the time of liquidation or confirm the reasons for insolvency.

As a result of the poor bookkeeping, Mr Suffield has been disqualified by The Insolvency Service for three years and six months.
