All of these cases involving people from Oldham have been before the magistrates in the last fortnight.

A woman has been jailed for a series of crimes which included her entering a supermarket.

Elisia Buckley, of Richmond Avenue, Royton, went to Royton Precinct on January 20, despite the fact she was banned from doing so due to a criminal behaviour order she was issued last year.

The 24-year-old went into the Boyes shop and stole £59.25 worth of toothpaste and pain medication.

Three days later, on January 23, Buckley went into the Co-op shop in Royton, which she was prohibited from doing due to a criminal behaviour order, and assaulted a woman in the shop.

At Tameside Magistrates' Court on March 4, Buckley pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching a criminal behaviour order, assault and theft.

Buckley given a 28-day jail sentence and was made to pay compensation of £100 to the assault victim and £59.25 to Boyes.

A man has avoided prison for two separate driving offences and abusing a police officer.

Callum Taggart, of Cypress Avenue, Chadderton, was driving dangerously on Hannerton Road in Shaw on Jun 26, 2021, before racially abusing a police officer.

Two years later, on Jun 27, 2023, the 27-year-old was found to be driving in Royton under the influence of cocaine.

At Tameside Magistrates' Court on March 4, Taggart was sentenced for racially aggravated harassment, driving dangerously and drug driving, having pleaded guilty to the three offences.

He was given a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and was disqualified from driving for two years.

Taggart was also ordered to attend 20 days of rehabilitation activity requirement and must carry out 200 hours of unpaid work.

He must also pay £100 in compensation to the officer he racially abused, as well as £85 in court costs.

A man has been jailed for trying to steal from a cinema in Oldham.

Jason Tindall, of Yorkshire Street, went behind the tills at the Odeon cinema in the town centre on February 7 with intent to steal from the staff-only area.

The 54-year-old pleaded guilty to burglary with intent to steal at Tameside Magistrates' Court on March 7, when he was sentenced.

Tindall was jailed for one month and was ordered to pay £88.26 in compensation.
