The slowest A roads in Oldham have been revealed through new data, which shows on average how long drivers can be delayed.

The figures, which have been provided by the Department for Transport, show the seconds per vehicle mile, meaning how many seconds a vehicle is held up for each mile travelled on an A road.

According to the data for 2023, the A6104 had the highest seconds per vehicle mile number at 81.6, meaning motorists were held up for about a minute and 20 seconds per mile travelled.

The road travels from Hathershaw, through Hollins and Hollinwood before moving into Moston.

The second most delayed A road was the A669, with a seconds per vehicle mile of 73.4, and in third was the A671 where road users were held up for an average of 71.8 seconds per mile.

At the other end of the scale, the A6052, which connects Denshaw and Delph, was the A road where drivers were delayed for the least amount of time on average, with a seconds per vehicle mile of 30.4.

The A640, A635 and A672 were the other A roads where the average amount of time drivers were held up per mile was below 40 seconds.

The data shows a number of the A roads are returning to pre-pandemic levels of delays having gone down for a couple of years in 2020 and 2021, such as the A6104, A627, A670, A671 and A672.

Meanwhile, the delays on some roads have even surpassed the 2019 figures, with the likes of the A669, A663, A635 and A62 being the most delayed they've been in the past five years.
