Oldham drivers have been warned that a key road in the borough will be closed for two nights this week as near completion.

Oldham Council has said that Oldham Way A627 will be closed in both directions between 8pm and 5am today (March 21), and Friday (March 22).

Oldham Way will be closed between the Manchester Road roundabout and the road's junction with Prince Street.

The council said the works that will be taking place will be part of the "final adjustments" taking place on Oldham Way.

A post on the council's Facebook page reads: "In order for our contractors to make final adjustments to road joints on Oldham Way, this road will be closed in both directions for two nights from tomorrow (Thursday 21 March).

"This closure will only be between 8pm until 5am from the Manchester Road roundabout and the junction of Prince Street, as we aim to get these works done when the roads are quietest."

Works have taken place on Oldham Way for around a year, including maintenance work on bridges at Waterloo Street and Wellington Street.

The works initially began in February last year and Oldham Council said at the time the works were expected to finish in the late autumn of last year.
