A four-bedroom home in Oldham which sits next to a chicken shop will be converted into a takeaway and a flat, planning documents reveal.

In February this year, a change of use application was submitted to transform a four-bedroom home on Featherstall Road North into a hot food takeaway and self-contained flat.

Blueprints of the existing layout show the home is comprised of a lounge, dining room and kitchen on the ground floor, plus two bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor and another two bedrooms on the second floor.

The applicant, Jamilah Rahman, outlines changing the ground floor into a takeaway and removing the family lounge to make way for four seating booths for diners.

It also proposes building a single-storey rear extension from the former dining room to cater for a large kitchen, prep area and front counter.

A disabled toilet will also be provided on the ground floor.

Meanwhile, the upper floors would make way for a two-bedroom flat with a lounge, kitchen and bathroom on the first floor and the two bedrooms and toilet on the second floor.

Planning officers assessed the plans and found that while no information was provided to "demonstrate a need for the proposed hot food takeaway", its previous commercial use and neighbouring fast food restaurant, Oldham Fried Chicken, means its current use as a family home is "in conflict with the surrounding land uses".

The takeaway would run between 12pm and 12am, seven days a week, to "match" the hours of its neighbours which officers said would have "little impact" on neighbouring properties given it sits on a busy road.

In terms of smells, officers recommended the applicant install a fume extraction flue.

As a result, Oldham Council approved the plans on Friday (April 5).
