Eight places in Oldham have received a one food hygiene rating this year.
Out of the 155 premises that Oldham Council has visited in 2024, only eight of those seemingly did not impress the food inspectors who subsequently slapped them with the damning score.
Included in the list is the ever-popular Friends Restaurant, on Ashton Road, which has received 4.3 stars on Google with over 400 reviews.
Writing a recent review on the search engine, Idrees Ahmed said: "This place has been very popular since it opened and hasn’t looked back since.
"It has gone from strength to strength and is always busy whenever I go.
"The food is always fresh and on point! Highly recommend."
However, according to the Food Standards Agency the inspector ordered that the businesses handling of food requires improvement - which includes preparation, cooking, reheating, cooling and storage.
Its management of food safety requires major improvement - this is a system in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.
While the inspector was satisfied by the cleanliness and condition of the facilities and the building.
The latest on the list was Best In Convenience Store, on Shaw Street, which was reviewed on Saturday February 24, and although its food handling was 'generally satisfactory' its management required major improvement, according to the agency.
The other six establishments that were brandished a one food hygiene rating were Tasty Bites, which its address was 'private' and so was not published, Desi Spot, located in the Tommyfield Indoor Market, Paach Baii, on High Street in Lees.
With Mr Chippy, on Tommyfield Market, The Pie Shop, on Redgrave Street, and Moa Choice African Kitchen, on Urmson Street, making up the rest of the list.
All ratings are accurate via the Food Standards Agency website as of April 10, 2024.
