A convoy of caravans have reportedly been causing 'chaos' in Chadderton supermarkets and car parks for almost a month.

Residents in the area have spotted a group of up to five caravans pulling up to park in various car parks in the past three weeks.

In late March, photographs show the caravans had parked at the Morrisons supermarket on Hollinwood Avenue/Tweedle Way.

The images show the caravans parked near to Morrisons' trolley bays and along the edge of the supermarket car park.

One woman, Janine Marie, said she became concerned after she saw three "tiny" puppies "running around on the road" near the caravans.

She said: "I don't know what to do - they're going to get run over."

While Morrisons declined to comment on the incident, The Oldham Times understands the convoy had left the site as of Tuesday (April 2).

However, caravans were allegedly spotted again at the Aldi supermarket on Beckerway as of Sunday (April 7) - and for a third time by the Toby Carvery restaurant on Burnley Lane.

Taking to social media, Vicki Buxton said: "Aldi car park is half full with caravans and a fire engine just rocked up.

"It's chaos to park. Don't know if it's travellers or a caravan convention."

Another resident, Paul Warhurst, added: "It was mayhem at Aldi."

Residents claim the group were then "moved on" when they pulled up at the restaurant by Greater Manchester Police on Monday (April 8).

Toby Carvery told The Oldham Times it cannot comment on police activity and any investigation that may be ongoing.

The caravans were then seen in a car park on Foxdenton Park while another image seems to place five caravans parked overnight at Elk Mill retail park.

A spokesperson for Oldham Council added: "We were made aware that a number of caravans were on the car park at Foxdenton Park.

"Our officers were quick to respond and visited the site with GMP.

"The convoy was ordered to move by Monday at 7pm and they are no longer there."

Morrisons, Aldi, Toby Carvery and Greater Manchester Police have all been approached for comment.
