The emergency services were called to a car fire at a car park in Failsworth.

They were called to an area off Old Road in the early hours of this morning.

According to Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) there was a car fire at the car park which took around half an hour for firefighters from Phillips Park fire station to tackle.

The cause of the incident was not revealed.

A GMFRS spokesperson said: "At shortly after 2.50am today one fire engine from Phillips Park fire station attended a car on fire in a car park on Old Road, Failsworth.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the fire and make the surrounding area safe. Crews were in attendance for around half an hour."
