April has seen some dangerous criminals in Oldham sentenced for a range of awful offences.

From drug dealing to burglary to a viscous, unprovoked attack, here are the Oldham criminals who have been thrown behind bars this month.

Drug dealer caught after calling police and 999

An Oldham drug dealer who was making £1,000 a day was caught by police after he used his drug dealer phone to call them.

Rakib Khan, of Suffolk Street, called police in March 2022 as part of his bail conditions while under investigation for a separate offence.

However, the force discovered the mobile phone the 23-year-old called from was linked to the 'Ali' drugs line in Oldham and when officers attended his home in July last year, Khan used the same phone to call 999, mistaking the officers for burglars.

He pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin, and the possession of Class B drugs and was sentenced to three years in prison at Minshull Street Crown Court on April 19.

Lookout burglar could be deported

An Oldham burglar could be deported after he was caught four years after acting as a lookout when a woman’s bungalow was targeted.

Daniel Kardos, from Hungary, had acted as a lookout while an associate burgled the home of a woman in Halliwell, Bolton, in April 2018.

The 31-year-old, of Fearnle Avenue, Chadderton, was caught after his fingerprints were found close to the address, where a mobile phone, bank cards, £220 in cash and a bus pass were all stolen.

Kardos eventually pleaded guilty and at Bolton Crown Court, he was jailed for a year and 10 months, with his defence barrister saying he was "highly likely" to be deported.

Horrific attack lands thug in prison

An Oldham man has been jailed for his part in a violent attack on a shop assistant at a petrol station.

Footage posted on social media at the time in July 2021 showed a group entering a petrol station on Wellington Road South in Stockport.

The attack took place after one of the suspects left his mobile phone when he had been in earlier to steal e-cigarette liquid, and later returned with friends.

The group then violently assaulted the man, by punching and stomping on him and throwing shop furniture at him forcefully, with his injuries requiring medical treatment.

Following a trial, four men, three from Oldham and one from Salford, were found guilty.

Kausar Amin, 22, of Tate Street in Oldham, received a two year prison sentence for the robbery and assault.

Two 19-year-olds, Riley Richardson, of Salt Street in Shaw, and Tyler Garforth, of Henley Street in Chadderton, were both given suspended sentences, while 20-year-old Bradley Maphosa, of Middlewood Street in Salford, has been sent to a young offender institute for two years.
