Greater Manchester Police have named Shaun Davies as the victim of the fatal incident on Wednesday (April 24) night.

Two men have been arrested in connection with Shaun's death and now his family have shared an emotional tribute to the 40-year-old.

The family's statement read: “We sadly lost our beloved brother Shaun on the 24th April. He was a much-loved son, brother and uncle.

“Shaun was such a beautiful kind person who had a loving and caring character to him. He brought laughter and smiles to anyone he was around.

“Us as a family ask for privacy at this time to grieve in peace. Thank you.”

Shaun was a pedestrian when he was struck by a car at 11.55pm on Stockport Road in Ashton on Wednesday, with paramedics pronouncing him dead at the scene.

A man aged 29 was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A second man aged 23 later handed himself in and was also arrested on suspicion of the same crime.

Both suspects have been released on bail pending further investigations.
