The list of programmes and workshops at the temporary pop-up Coliseum in Oldham has been revealed for May.

While the Oldham Coliseum Theatre eagerly awaits to move into its new £24m home, the company has temporarily moved into the 'Roundabout' - a pop-up theatre space.

Coliseum at the Roundabout is stationed in the Civic Centre car park throughout summer and is promising a generous line-up of arts, culture, performances and workshops.

Here is the programme so far for May.

Full Circle

The Full Circle is a friendly and welcoming group for anyone over 50.

The group meets as of 10am on Thursdays and holds talks relating to theatre and the arts.

The Full Circle costs £5 per session, including tea and coffee, and will be held on May 9, May 23, June 13, June 30 and July 4.

Culture & Chips

Free and open to everyone, whether you engage with the Coliseum or not, Culture and Chips is a space for residents to discuss what they'd like to see and how the new Coliseum can best serve the community in the future.

The Roundabout will host guests from Oldham and beyond to lead conversations about their practice, connection to Oldham and vision for the future.

The talk includes chips and starts from 6pm on May 8, June 5 and July 10.

Beat

With Faz Shah and Oldham Theatre Workshopshop, beatboxing, DJing and songwriting is coming to the Roundabout for young people between the ages of 18 to 25.

The free workshops are followed by an open mic evening and is open to everyone at all levels of experience and across various talents, such as comedy, live music, jazz and poetry.

The Beat sessions start from 11am until 4pm while the open mic starts from 6pm until late on May 19, May 26, June 2, June 30 and July 7.

Cultivate Festival 

Between May 9 and May 12, the Coliseum is celebrating the return of its annual festival.

There will be a programme of keynote talks, workshops and conversations to help anyone wanting to get into theatre and develop their professional skills.

This year's programme also includes a technical masterclass with Miranda Parker and a writing masterclass with Cathy Crabb.

Showcase by Hulme Grammar

On Tuesday, May 14, a series of theatre performances in partnership with Wild Things will be taking to the Roundabout stage, showing modern narratives, create expressions and subjects created by young people and students.

The event starts at 7.30pm and costs between £5 to £10.

Ten in a Bed by Half Moon

This show promises to sensitively explore the child refugee experience, following the thoughts and imaginations of Naz, Iggy and their eight friends where their bed is a place of imagination.

The play is for ages three to eight and takes place at 1pm and 4pm on Friday, May 17.

Tickets cost £5.

Rock Choir

On Saturday, May 18, the UK's leading contemporary award-winning choir experience will be coming to Oldham's pop-up Coliseum.

Rock Choi takes place in more than 400 towns and communities across the UK, attracting everyone who loves to sing pop and contemporary songs.

For this concert, you'll hear from Oldham Rock Choir.

The event costs £5 to £10 and starts at 7.30pm. 

Two Roads by Afreena Islam-Wright

Afreena is a Manchester-based theatre maker and producer whose work has toured nationally and internationally.

Newly researched, Two Roads, is an intimate theatre experience, a collage of passed-down traditions, pub quiz questions and even karaoke as Afreena tries to work out who will have her and which route to take on her way home.

Tickets cost between £5 and £10 while the show starts at 7.30pm on May 24 and May 25.

Invite by Dare to Know Theatre

Invite promises to bring an evening of exciting new writing with readings from local writers and theatre makers with script in hand.

This includes writing from Cathy Crabb and her daughter, Hazel Green, Waterloo Road's Sonya Nisa and Coronation Street's Kimberley Hart-Simpson.

Tickets cost between £5 to £10 and the event starts at 7.30pm on May 29 and May 30.

The Light House by Alys Williams in association with Park Theatre

The Light House is a "tender, funny and defiantly hopeful" tale of a real-life and complicated love story.

Tickets cost £5 to £10 and the play starts at 7.30pm on Friday, May 31.

A Hip Hop Opera

Also coming up is a special preview performance from Tones before he heads to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Tones: A Hip Hop Opera follows the pivotal moments of a lead character, Jerome, AKA The Professor, and his upbringing from childhood to his departure from university.

As he battles with his identity, we go on a journey through the depths of Black-British culture, class and belonging.
