A man has been jailed for carrying out an "unprovoked" attack in Oldham earlier this month.
Anthony Howard, of no fixed abode, assaulted a man on Market Street, Royton, on Monday, September 9, on a bench outside a business.
According to court documents, the assault was "an unprovoked attack of a serious nature" which was committed while Howard was intoxicated.

Two days later, on September 11, the 54-year-old appeared at Tameside Magistrates' Court, where he pleaded guilty to assault by beating.
Howard was jailed for 18 weeks, due to the severity of the attack and Howard's previous convictions of assault.
He was also ordered to pay £100 in compensation to his victim.
