First images and plot details have been released for the new series of ITV’s After the Flood, which was filmed in Oldham earlier this year.
Series one of the show aired in January 2024 and followed police officer Joanna Marshall as she investigates a murder after a body is uncovered in the aftermath of a flood.
According to the newly released details, flooding is still a concern in the town of Waterside in the upcoming series, but now the community is facing another environmental problem that will be all too familiar for Oldhamers – moorland fires.
Against this backdrop, newly promoted detective Marshall is tasked with investigating another body that has turned up in bizarre circumstances and it’s a race against time to catch the killer before they strike again.
ITV has released some sneak-peek photos of the upcoming series, which show detective Marshall investigating the new murder, including one where she appears to be in the moorland with smoke in the background.
Back in March, filming crews took over Tandle Hill park in Royton for a couple of days while filming for series two took place.

At the time, Oldham Council warned residents of the planned shoot as it involved “fire effects and quad bikes”.
Despite the warning, some residents took to social media the day after to ask about the bright lights that had been spotted over the park, with some joking that it could be “aliens”.
When we went to check out the site during the day, we spotted filming equipment and lights at various areas in the park, including in an elevated area near Tandle Hill’s viewing point.
The full cast of After the Flood has already been announced, including returning members Faye McKeever (Adolescence) as Kelly Kamali, George Bukhari (Ridley, Black Cab) as Keith Kamali, Maui Connock as Sophie Kamali, as well as Tripti Tripuraneni, Heider Ali, Leo Flanagan and Jacqueline Boatswain.
Joining the cast for this season are Jill Halfpenny, along with Alun Armstrong, Ian Puleston-Davies, Matthew McNulty and Anil Desai.
Series two will consist of six one-hour episodes and is “coming soon” to TV screens, although a precise release date is yet to be announced.
It has been produced by Quay Street Productions in association with ITV Studios.
