The new Harlan Coben series, Run Away, which was partly filmed in Oldham, drops on Netflix on New Year’s Day.

Starring James Nesbitt and Minnie Driver, the eight-part series follows a father searching for his daughter, who has run away and become embroiled in a murder.

Joining Nesbitt and Driver are Gavin and Stacey’s Ruth Jones, who plays a private investigator working on the case and Alfred Enoch, best known for How to Get Away with Murder.

In January 2025, film crews and James Nesbitt were spotted on the Saddleworth Moors filming for the series.

Crews were also seen filming in Heaton Park in June, having transformed the park’s Temple into a terraced restaurant.

First-look images were released in October, along with confirmation that the limited series would be dropping on January 1.

Since then, a trailer has been released, which gives some more details about the plot and what to expect from the show.

It shows parents, Nesbitt and Driver, dropping their daughter Paige off on her first day of university before things start to unravel. The trailer also promises gripping action, including a car explosion and bloody murder scene.

It’s not clear from the trailer which scenes were filmed in Saddleworth.

This is the 12th adaptation from bestselling thriller writer Harlen Coben to be released on the streaming service.

It follows the runaway success of 2024’s Fool Me Once, which was also filmed in and around Greater Manchester, including Oldham’s Alexandra Park, and Missing You, which came out in 2025.

Run Away will be available to watch on Netflix from Thursday, January 1.
