Oldham filming locations for new Netflix thriller Run Away

Starring James Nesbitt, Ruth Jones and Minnie Driver, the eight-part thriller follows a father searching for his daughter who has run away and found herself in a very dark situation.

The trailer was released in December and the series hit the streaming on New Year’s Day.

This is the 12th Harlan Coben novel to have been adapted into a series. As with the previous series, the story has been transposed from the US to the UK with locations all over the North West used for filming.

Back in January 2025, film crews were spotted on the Saddleworth Moors near Marsden, filming for the show.

Oldham’s Alexandra Park was also used as a location, as seen in the trailer. Nesbitt, who plays the father, catches a glimpse of his daughter busking in a park looking worse for wear. When she clocks him, they chase through a park near a fountain.

Crews were also spotted at Heaton Park in June, having turned the Temple into a terraced restaurant.

Several Manchester locations were also used, including the Tib Street restaurant Evelyn’s and the University of Manchester.

In a comment to the Netflix news site Tudum, writer Harlan Coben has spoken about his love of the region when it comes to filming.

Coben said: “When you do as many shows as we’ve done there, you really get the charm."

He said: "What’s wonderful about the north of England is there’s such variety. There’s a combination of everyday and eccentric about the settings there.”
