A man from Oldham has been sentenced for a series of crimes, including being caught with nunchucks and drugs after vaping on a tram, as well as escaping police custody with handcuffs.
Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court was told that Hayden Turner committed a range of offences between 2022 and 2025 while a teenager.
In the first incident, the court heard Turner was asked to leave a Metrolink tram, which he had boarded at Oldham tram stop with 11 other boys, by a travel safety officer for vaping.
Later that afternoon, and as part of the larger group, Turner was said to have 'engaged in behaviour causing four other people to have concern for their safety'.
They reported the incident to the same travel safety officer who had dealt with the boys earlier, and the police were called.
Turner, of Pendragon Place in Failsworth, was searched and police found he had nunchucks.
It was also discovered he had eight wraps of white powder, which were found to be cocaine.
The first offences occurred in 2022, the court heard, and the following year two police officers were patrolling a little before 12.30am in Ashton, when they saw two boys with face coverings and in dark clothes.
The officers asked if they could talk to the boys, and one of them immediately ran away.
The court was told one officer tried to give chase while the other questioned the remaining boy, who later was found to be Turner, gave a fake name and age and had a Nokia and an iPhone with him and admitted he was known to police.

Backup arrived, and as he was being escorted to the police van, Turner ran away and could not be caught.
Eight days later, another pair of police officers spotted Turner in all black and with a balaclava, and he was arrested for escaping custody and the theft of handcuffs.
The police also seized class A drugs, cannabis, three phones and a snap bag with remnants of white powder.
Finally, in July 2025, Turner was with two other men who the police had been told were trying to steal ebikes while armed with weapons.
Police found Turner behind Royton Library, and he was discovered to be in possession of cannabis in his man bag, the court heard.
Now 20, Turner was sentenced for the eight offences.
These were being concerned in the supply of class B drugs, possession of an offensive weapon in public, theft, escape from lawful custody, two counts of possession of class A drugs and two counts of possession of class B drugs.
Sentencing at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Wednesday (January 7), His Honour Judge Matthew Corbett-Jones handed Turner an 18-month community order.
He must also complete 25 rehabilitation days, 50 hours of unpaid work and pay a victim surcharge.
