Owners of a Royton bar have hit out at a vandal who was captured on CCTV damaging their property.
Arumba, located in the town centre on Rochdale Road, posted a clip of the footage to their Facebook page, along with a message to residents about the impact this kind of damage can have on small businesses.
The post read: “We are a Royton family run business as are most businesses in Royton, over the last four years of Arumba opening we have put all our own financial resources, heart & soul sweat and tears in trying to make Arumba what it is today!
“We live shop and drink in Royton and there’s nothing better to see than the town you live in thriving with all kinds of bars, restaurants and different shops, who, like I say, is mostly run by the residents of Royton.
“But nothing is more saddening than waking up and seeing that someone has maliciously and intended to damage your business property! Arumba is not just our business but our second home.”
The clip from the CCTV footage shows one man jump up to grab at the fairy lights and decoration from above the shopfront. He then turns around to pull the decoration down even more, while a second man watches before they both walk away.
According to the time stamp of the footage, the act took place just after 3am on Saturday.
Explaining why they have made the decision to share the footage, Arumba said in the post: “We have put the CCTV on not just to name and shame (but feel free to tag away), just for you all to see and hopefully the people involved to see how stupid and sad it looks!
“What goes through people’s minds? What did they gain? Did it make them feel better?
Who knows and unfortunately no one will ever know what goes through people's minds!”
Customers and followers have offered support to Arumba in the comment section.
Louise Carter said: “Actually embarrassing. They’re grown a** men, not even kids.”

Janice Thomson said: “Absolutely disgusting , WHY? Just what goes through these people’s minds, hope you find the culprit.”
Clare Cooper said: “Sorry to see this mindless behaviour from ‘grown’ adults. Jay and Jo and team work so hard to provide a lovely venue for all ages to enjoy both day and night, so it’s disheartening for them to have to sort this out before they can get on with the great job of serving all us customers. If you did this, take a long hard look at yourself and sort your life out.”
