A working men's club in Crompton has said it has been left with 'no choice' but to make an 'unfortunate' change to its price list.
The Crompton Central Working Men's Club, more commonly known as Cartshaft, has opened up about a recent decision on social media.
Posting to Facebook on Monday (February 2), a spokesperson for the club explained that the price of the beer from the brewery behind the club's alcohol offering had increased.
Explaining there had been a six per cent rise, the club explained that it would have to pay almost £11,000 more for beer and spirits than it did previously.
The increases don't end at the beer and spirits, though, with the club telling customers that the minimum wage rise will cost them an additional £5,000 a year.
The club said that it was taking steps to avoid the impact on customers and absorbing some of the costs, but that it had to make an 'unfortunate' decision in order to keep its doors open.

An image of a notice in the club's committee said: "Taking all these factors into consideration and the current financial position of the Club we The Committee have no choice but to put up all Draught, Spirits and bottles up by a 15p minimum (no increase on cans) we have absorbed circa a £1,000 of the above costs so as to minimise the impact on our members.
"We hope that you, our customers, can understand our position and continue to support our great club at the heart of the Community."
A statement shared with the image said: "Update- apologies.
"As with the rest of the hospitality industry, the cost of living rises passed down the chain to our suppliers, and increased taxes on the industry have led to the Club being in a position that we have to raise our prices, unfortunately, just to keep the doors open in this current climate."
