Cheesemonger set to open in former home of Uppermill cafe

Caffe Grande Veloce moved premises into the former The Flower Shop over the summer, and said goodbye to its home further down the Uppermill high street.

The move was made in order to 'extend its offer to customers'.

The unit it formerly occupied has sat vacant ever since, still bearing the bright yellow signage of its former resident.

Now, though, residents have been given their first look at what will come of the space.

New signs have appeared in the front-facing window of the retail space, with the new business announcing its upcoming debut.

The sign states that an artisan cheesemonger will be coming to the Saddleworth village.

It mentions the name Tyromancer, and a website by that name and with matching branding states that the cheese venue will be opening in the spring this year.

It also gives people wanting to try it the option of signing up for email alerts on its opening, as well as allowing people to register their interest in working for the site.

A social media post including an image of the shop front with the signs was made by Massimino Malacrino, who runs the page Italian Wolverine.

Mr Malacrino publicises and photographs local businesses and events.

He said that the cheesemonger 'will be a favourite with many'.

Comments under the post expressed excitement about the opening, with one man who said: "I'm about to get a little bit fatter."

One woman, who is moving to the area, made a similar prediction and tagged a friend as she said: "If I put on 3 stone in the first month of moving there, this is why."

Others showed interest in the post, with more than 110 reactions.
