Saddleworth School headteacher leaves role, trust announces

Parents were notified in a letter sent out on Monday, February 23.

It explained that, as of today (Tuesday, February 24), Mike Anderson would no longer be leading the school.

The letter said: “You will be sorry to hear that Mr Mike Anderson, Headteacher of Saddleworth School, is leaving after five and a half years of dedicated service to the young people of the school.

“Under his leadership Saddleworth moved to its beautiful new site, the growth began, and the school has become a hub for the community.

“He led the school through Covid lockdowns and steered the necessary changes in curriculum from which pupils have benefitted.

“We wish him every success and happiness in the future.”

Until a new headteacher has been selected, Saddleworth School will be led by two executive headteachers from the Cranmer Education Trust, Rob Higgins, from Blue Coat and Chris Heyes, from St Anne's.

They will be joined by an interim headteacher “in due course”, who will “be responsible for the day-to-day running of the school until the new substantive headteacher is appointed”.

The letter advised parents to “go through normal channels” if they need to contact the school.

Heads of year can be contacted regarding pastoral matters and heads of department will be able to handle queries regarding learning and progress. The school office can also be contacted for advice.

Any “matters already in progress” will still be followed up on and any appointments with Mr Anderson will be rescheduled and handled by the appropriate school leaders, according to the letter.
