Oldham hairdresser moves business from bedroom to salon

Manes hair and beauty salon, located on Thomas Street, launched on Saturday (February 28), with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for family and friends.

For co-owner Adina Foey, 34, this marks a new chapter in her existing business.

Over the last 15 years, she has worked as a mobile hairdresser, also developing her hair extension business from her home for the last 18 months.

As the business grew, she decided she needed a separate base and started looking at potential locations.

Adina told The Oldham Times: “I've never actually wanted to work in a shop because I built up my client being mobile, but obviously, now with the extensions, they're just in my bedroom – so I thought I need a base for it.”

Adina and co-owner Jack Ford got the keys for the premises, which was already a salon, on February 1 and completely renovated it within three weeks.

She said: “We did a load of work and we got it done pretty fast really – it’s had a brand new makeover.

“It's looking good and we're going to be selling the hair extensions from the shop now, which is better than my bedroom, obviously.”

The new shop, with its team of eight hairdressers and beauticians, will be offering a range of services, including hair, aesthetics, brows and lashes by Holly Ditchfield, who was on the 2024 series of Married at First Sight.

Adina said that the response from customers so far has been really positive.

She said: “We've had really good comments, saying that it looks stunning, it's totally different. I've had a lot of walk-ins already and we've only been open a week so yeah, it's good.”
