The new landlady of a Scouthead pub has said she has several exciting plans for its future.

Jodie Bennett announced she had taken on The Three Crowns in March and reopened its doors after an eight-week closure on Good Friday (April 3).

She has already launched a new food menu, which is reportedly being cooked up by a Michelin-guide named chef who has come from another restaurant in Saddleworth.

Now, Ms Bennett has shared the reasons why she took over the pub. and what she hopes for its future.

The 42-year-old landlady said that the pub has always been her 'local' and that it had fallen in popularity over the last few years.

She said: "It's not had the best reputation in the past couple of years, unfortunately.

"But I believe it's got potential, and I didn't want to see it turned into an HMO.

"I'm planning to give it my all and hopefully really get it going again for the community."

Ms Bennett explained she is from the area, and lives 'just down the road' from The Three Crowns.

She also said that she has managed restaurants in the past, and that while this is the first pub she's had, there are similar skills needed in both.

Explaining what she's implemented at the pub, she said: "There's great chefing, everybody has been raving about the food.

"I've not had too much time to do anything just yet.

"We only just opened, and I didn't have electricity for a few weeks.

"I literally got in, got electricity, and had to open.

"But there's plenty I want to implement, I want to get a standalone children's play area and hold family fun days and things like that, but my feet feel like they haven't touched the ground these last few days.

"I also want to hold monthly tipsy tapas nights, a bit like bottomless brunch but in the evening.

"I want to do an over-60s club during the week to get them in and give them a bit of discounted food for them.

"I have so many ideas, but I'm just trying to get the basics right first."

The first few visitors to the pub have left glowing reviews about the food and atmosphere.

The pub has a large range of beers on offer, including Cruz Campo, Guinness, Carling, Heineken, Smiths, Birra Moretti, and Inch's cider.

It has cask ales coming soon, which will be on a rotational basis.

The pub is open for bar service only on Tuesdays from 4pm and serves food 4pm to 8pm on Wednesdays, 12pm until 8pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 12pm to 7 pm on Sundays.
