Celebrity gardener David Domoney has said he "really enjoyed" delivering a talk at an Oldham garden centre as part of a fundraising event.

Domoney, a renowned horticulturist and TV garden presenter, visited the Daisy Nook Garden Centre in Failsworth earlier this month to hold a community fundraising event in support of The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

He was welcomed by J. Parker's, one of the UK’s leading gardening and bulb providers which runs the garden centre, with the business hosting the event as part of its work to create meaningful horticultural events in Greater Manchester.

At the event, Domoney delivered a talk on the ‘Top Seasonal Plants’, selecting some of the best plants for spring and sharing planting and care tips to provide inspiration for keen gardeners in the local area.

Domoney said: “I really enjoyed sharing some practical planting inspiration and highlighting some of the finest seasonal stars for the garden with a great audience.

“It’s wonderful that the event is also supporting a deserving cause.”

Ticket sales from the event raised £750, with all proceeds going towards supporting the work of The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, Europe’s largest single-site cancer centre, and its vital cancer research.

This event marked the continuation of J. Parker’s In The Community initiative, which aims to create accessible and valuable horticultural experiences for residents across Greater Manchester.

It builds on a series of events hosted at Daisy Nook Garden Centre this year, including a recent event supporting Women in Horticulture as well as a free monthly gardening club, providing educational support to local schools and inspiring keen young gardeners across Manchester.

Edward Doherty, Marketing Manager at J. Parker's, said: "What a great talk and demonstration we had here from David, seeing visitors leave inspired to make the most of the potential that their garden can provide.

"A big thank you to David for giving his time to help raise funds to support the amazing work that The Christie does."
