Lidl is eyeing up three potential new locations in and near Oldham as part of a nationwide expansion plan – and there’s a finder’s fee for anyone who can help the company find the right site.
The budget supermarket has published a list of hundreds of target locations across the country, following recently announced plans to open 50 new stores over the next 12 months.
They are appealing for help to identify any freehold, leasehold, or long-leasehold sites in prominent locations.
There’s also a competitive finder’s fee for anyone who suggests a previously unknown site that becomes a developed store.
Having opened its 1000th store in East Grinstead in November, Lidl is making a £600m investment over the next year to build 50 new stores nationally.
The company hopes to continue its 33-month streak of being the fastest-growing bricks-and-mortar supermarket in the UK.
Oldham's new Hollinwood Lidl is also among the newest UK stores, having opened to the public at the end of last year.
Lidl is also in the middle of construction on a new warehouse in Leeds, which is due to begin operations next year.

In Oldham, three areas have been named among the target locations. These are Oldham East, Shaw and Mossley, even though the latter is located in neighbouring Tameside on the outskirts of the borough.
Other Greater Manchester locations near Oldham named among the list of target locations include Middleton, Rochdale South and Droylsden.
