A restaurant 20 minutes away from Oldham has been named one of the best curry houses in the UK.
Purple Olive, in Ashton under Lyne, has secured a place in the Asian Catering Federation’s (ACF) 2026 Guide to the UK’s Top 100 Curry Restaurants.
A list recognising the nation’s outstanding South Asian dining destinations.
Yawar Khan, chairman of the Asian Catering Federation, said: "This event is about celebrating excellence across the hospitality sector, putting the diverse Asian community on one platform, and recognising chefs, restaurants, and industry leaders who continue to set the benchmark for quality, innovation and consistency across the Asian food industry in the UK.
"Congratulations to everyone who is included in this year’s Guide, you have all earned your place through passion for our industry, and for working hard to maintain exceptional high standards – well done."
The top 100 guide, launched in 2022, celebrates restaurants that deliver not only exceptional food but also strong community involvement, job creation and high standards of hospitality.
Selections are made through public votes and recommendations from the ACF’s panel of industry experts.
The announcement was made at the ACF’s annual networking dinner at the House of Commons, where industry figures gathered to honour excellence in the sector.
Purple Olive was recognised alongside other North West establishments including Spice Mafia in Urmston, The Indian Plaza in Audenshaw, Tyga in Manchester and Ayaan’s in Bolton.
Anisa Khan, brand ambassador for the ACF, said: "Curry has long been an integral part of the UK dining scene, and today there are nearly 10,000 curry restaurants in the UK, with at least one to be found on every high street.
"The Asian restaurant industry has long been a cornerstone of British dining.
"It has shaped tastes, brought communities together, and created spaces where culture, heritage, and modern creativity come together.
"However, this industry is not just about food. It is about people. It is about community.
"It is about creating experiences that stay with us long after we leave the table."
Other winners from across the UK include Shezan Cuisine in Edinburgh, My Indian in Ammanford, and Eastern Eye in Newton Abbott.

In London, recognised restaurants included Benares, Kasa & Kin, Namaaste Kitchen, and Laksamania Fitzrovia.
